Igniting the Creative Futures of Our Local Youth

The Jersey Jewels Chapter of The Society, Incorporated, Supporting the Arts was chartered in March 2021. Our chapter supports arts related community programs and their efforts to: 1) Produce sustainable and substantive Arts programming that will fill critical gaps in traditional access points to artistic pathways. 2) Expose youth to different artistic genres and increase student engagement in the Arts. 3) Support the endeavors of youth to achieve their artistic goals.
Our Community Partners are: Erik J. Montgomery Photography Foundation, Halliday Dance Studio, That Which Connects Camden Cherry Hill African American Civic Association, NAACP Camden County East Youth Council, and The Greater Philadelphia Choral Society.
The Society, Incorporated Supporting the Arts, is a non-profit national organization of women dedicated to enhancing, exposing, and promoting youth in the arts for the betterment of our communities. Our organization was founded in May 1983 by four women who conceived the idea of organizing a group of professional women of color who shared the goals of friendship and service. The outcome of their efforts was the establishment of The Society as an organization to promote friendship among members and serve as a resource in the arts for young people, with a focus on under-served children. Today there are chapters in 41 cities across the U.S. providing scholarships, grants, stipends, and other opportunities to help young people experience the exciting dimensions of artistic expression.
The goal of Jersey Jewels Chapter of The Society, Incorporated, Supporting the Arts, in alignment with the National goals, is to educate, support, and inspire young people by exposing them to and delivering high-quality art experiences and programs in the 5 genres (listed below) in an effort to advance their personal and academic growth.
Our efforts to encourage and undergird young aspiring Artists is in the following artistic disciplines:
Instrumental arts (music, conducting, composing, and scoring)
Performing arts (dance, theater, stage production)
Literary arts (spoken word, poetry, writings)
Visual arts (fine, applied, photography, and digital media)
Vocal arts (classical, opera, jazz and pop)
Our Leadership consists of dynamic, altruistic and professional women of color, who are dedicated to service in order to provide opportunities and platforms for young Artists to grow and flourish. They lead the charge to share their breadth of commitment and dedication to ensure that young people have opportunities and exposure to the arts.
